Mr Egan graduated from the University of Tasmania in 1980 with a Bachelor of Laws degree. He worked in a senior management role in the Western Australia Public Service from 1985 until 1997 in a regulatory capacity, and subsequently, prior to his retirement in 2013, in an executive management position in the private sector in the gaming, hospitality and entertainment industry.
